Read and Ascend – al Qirāʾāt al-Sab’
The “Read and Ascend – al Qirāʾāt al-Sab’ ” course is for those who wish to achieve mastery in the Seven Qirā’āt. The Qur’ān was revealed in seven modes (aḥruf) to ease its recitation for the Ummah. These modes, taught by the Prophet ﷺ to his companions, are included in the ten famous recitation methods. The course covers the works of prominent scholars like Imām Shātibī and Imām al-Jazarī. Students will also extensively study about the codification & orthography of the Qur’ān, including writing styles and diacritical markings. It also explores different schools of thought on verse numbering, focusing on the beginnings and endings of verses without disputing the Qur’ān’s content.
Course Objectives:
- Study the seven modes of recitation as related by Imām Shāṭibī.
- Apply the theoretical study.
- Study the intricacies of the subject i.e orthography, codification and numbering of the verses in the Qur’ān.
- Recitation of the Full Qur’ān – one and a half juzʾ will be read Jamʿ ʿaṭfī and the rest by way of Jamʿ Harfī.

Target Audience:
This course is for those who have memorised the Qur’ān, studied Tajwīd and have an Ijazah in the Riwayah of Hafs, as well as have a strong command of Arabic, especially comprehension.
